"Hey Man, Want Some Beef?"

Since 1954 The Galley has been serving some of Santa Monica's great quality steaks and spirits. A historic landmark on Main Street, every part of the Galley brings back nostalgic memories of old Hollywood. As you sit in your red naughahyde booth, dining by candlelight and twinkle Christmas lights, enjoy the story of Captain Ron (Ron Schur) a former east coaster, who dreamt of being a stand up comedian. If you're lucky he might come to your table and perform live for you! Meanwhile sit yourself down, enjoy the friendly service, and order a cocktail while you peruse the menu. From the wine list we enjoy the Sonoma-Cutrer Chardonnay ($45) or the Merryvale Cabernet Sauvignon ($49). To start try the House Salad ($5.50) with mixed greens, tomato, cucumber and Famous Galley Dressing. Okay so the salad dressing has a back story. It seems that Captain Ron was obsessed, and I do mean obsessed with the salad dressing at The Galley. Long before he became the rightful owner, Captain Ron hounded and hounded a waitress named Millie for the secret recipe; but to no avail. Finally, after one long night, and tired of the Captain's incessant nagging, Millie told him that, "If you want the recipe that badly, then buy the restaurant!" So he did. The rest is history. The dressing is a sweet creamy garlic concoction. Petit Filet Mignon with Gorgonzola sauce ($26) is a 5oz. tender steak served with cheesy scalloped potatoes and a choice of vegetable. I like the sauteed spinach. The 18 oz. Ribeye ($31), is a well-marbled, flavorful, juicy steak. Add a side of grilled onions ($1) or sauteed mushrooms ($3) to make it even more magnificent! We order it with a loaded baked potato and steamed broccoli. Garlic Mashed potatoes are delicious too! I love looking at the twinkle lights all through dinner. They make me happy! Save room for dessert because Rita's is right across the street! The Galley 2442 Main Street, Santa Monica.
