It's not often that my entire family can get it together to get together on a specific night without advance notice. Well this Saturday a miracle occurred. Either we were all pumped about sitting
in traffic to meet in Malibu or we all just really wanted to see each other! I'm going with the latter. I've had the rather noisy pleasure of dining at Taverna Tony several times, and it's always, let's say, an experience. Last night was no different. Featuring
live entertainment seven days a week, I would be using the word loud as an understatement, should that be my word of choice to describe the indoor dining. Dine on the patio at all costs. We had a party of 10 so there was no chance of that happening
as the patio is relativelt small. Start with the amazingly creamy red caviar, lemon juice, avocado, olive oil, and onion dip. (Taramosalata) It's fabulous and and best of all free! Eat it with TT's crusty sourdough or order a basket of fresh, home-made Grilled Pita Bread ($3.50). We also love the Keftethes (Meatballs)($9.95) made with fresh garlic, onion, oregano, and herbs. For a different appetizer try the Spanakopita ($10.95) Feta
and fresh spinach are blended together and baked inside Phyllo dough until puffed and golden. Perhaps my favorite dish is the Garithosalata (Shrimp Salad) ($22) I'm telling you, this is the best Greek salad in LA. Jumbo Shrimp (my favorite example of a contradiction)
is served over lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, bell peppers, spring onions, feta cheese, Greek olives, and all topped with a Secret Greek dressing. Lamb Tenderloin ($33.95) is charcoal grilled to your liking with a black peppercorn sauce and served with
roasted potatoes and vegetables. My dad loved this! even though it's not a traditionl Greek dish, the Salmon was another favorite. At $31.95, it's a huge piece grilled in olive oil, lemon, garlic, and fresh Oregano. So get ready for some real Greek food and fun. Taverna
