Open wide and say yum! Here is the perfect combination of marshmallow, graham cracker, and chocolate! In 1917 a Kentucky coal miner asked a traveling Chattanooga Bakery salesman to create a
snack "as big as the moon!" Soon coal miner's had a tasty treat that was filling and fit right in their lunch boxes. Chattanooga Bakery knew they had a winner with MoonPies, selling for 5 cents each. And they did! MoonPies flew off the shelves, a the rest,
is well...history.As World War II approached servicemen appreciated the snacks (MoonPies) sent from home and devoured the comfort food. During the Baby Boom many of us enjoyed MoonPies as a filling snack. Almost 100 years later, Chattanooga Bakery still produces
over a million a day! The Single-Decker Moon Pie comes in flavors like Salted Caramel, Banana, Vanilla, and Choclate ($6.95 for 12 per box). Double Deckers (the ones I like) come in all of the above flavors plus Lemon, Strawberry, and Orange. ($6.75
for 9). For the kids try the MoonPie Minis. They come in all the same flavors as the single-deckers and are $4.50 for 12. So what you ask, does a MoonPie look like? Two round graham cracker cookies with marshmallow filling in the center are dipped in a flavored
coating. They are about 4" in diameter. And here's another fun fact: The Band NRBQ (New Rhythm and Blues Quartet) , had a minor hit with the song, Give Me an RC Cola and a Moon Pie back in 1973. Try one for fun; I love them to the moon and
back! MoonPies available at Amazon.com, Walmart, Chattanooga Bakery.
