Abbot's claims they make the best pizza in Los Angeles and I think I have to agree with them. The famous bagel crust does not compare to any that I have or will have (I'm pretty sure) in the future.
Open since 1995 on Abbot Kinney, brothers Richie and Tom have made this my new favorite pizza! The former New Yorkers (actually once your a New Yorker, you're always a New Yorker!) constantly try out exciting creations, one of them being
the Salad Pizza. Yep, you heard me, the Salad Pizza! It's a blend of baked cheeses and onions topped with sour cream, Abbot's chopped salad, chopped tomatoes, feta cheese, homemade lemon olive oil dressing, and fresh avocado! Service is
excellent and food is very high quality. I had the Cheese Bomb, and boy was it ever! This was perhaps the most "bomb" cheese pie in all the land! Parmesan, Romano, Fontina, Gouda, Ricotta, and Mozarella cheeses sit atop a light Alfredo
sauce. This sounds really rich but it's not; and what's more, it's not oily whatsoever! You know how you tell if pizza's oily? You tell by the number of napkins you use! I only needed one! The crust was a delicious crunchy blend-bagel. Sometimes you just
throw pizza crust away, right? I actually dare anyone to leave this crust! I also had the Meat Eater's with Pepperoni, Sausage & Ham with Mozzarella and tomato sauce. This was also excellent and had the perfect ratio of meat to cheese. Prices
for Gourmet pies are XL (20") $22.95, Large (16") 19.95, Small (12") $15.95 and Slices $3.65. Gourmet pies include six different crusts to choose from...onion, garlic, sesame, poppy, hot crust, or the blend. I love the blend! Marinated BBQ Chicken
Pizza is a best seller and includes chicken marinated with cilantro, red onions, gouda, and mozzarella, on a tomato sauce. Also on the menu...calzones ($12.50), three salads, Caesar, Chopped, and Mixed Green (all with housemade dressings),
and plain cheese pizza. If you crave a sweet, ask for a homemade cranberry or chocolate chip scone ($2.50). They're made from scratch after all! Does that surprise you? Abbot's Pizza Company 1407 Abbot Kinney Blvd. Venice (310) 396-7334. Hours: Sun-Thurs:
