Craving some Italian fare in Sherman Oaks? La Cava is pretty close to authentic. Classic Italian food served in a cozy dining room or on a lovely heated patio will leave you chanting "deliizosa"
for days! Owner Armando was born and raised in Florence, Italy where everything in small cafes is made fresh daily. La Cava's food is no exception to that rule. Locals relish this local neighborhood gem. Start off with a glass of wine or
a beer then order the Frittura di Calamari ($15). Fried calamari is paired with fried zucchini and the combination works well. The Beef Carpaccio ($14) is outstanding. Eight thin slices of beef are topped with shaved parmesan. This dish is flavorful and delicious.
Eat the beef on top of the herbed flatbread for a real treat. Classic Insalata di Cesare ($11) is a nice take on the classic caesar salad. You can add chicken or shrimp for $4 and make it a meal. We always order the 4 Fromaggi Pizza ($15). Thin crispy crust
is topped with tomato sauce, mozzarella, parmesan, fontina, and gorganzola cheese. Topping to crust ratio is perfection! The Pollo alla Milanese ($20) is thinly sliced breaded chicken breasts served with spinach and mashed potatoes. Chicken is moist and tender
and spinach and mashed potatoes are the perfect sides. There is always a daily assortment of homemade desserts ($9) too. Service is friendly and very efficient. La Cava 13565 Ventura Blvd., Sherman Oaks. (818) 981-1517.
