Larry Ellison has another huge hit on his hands with Nikita Malibu. The third wealthiest man in America, according to Forbes magazine (2103), and CEO of Oracle Corporation, completely rennovated
the former Pier View restaurant and made it into a Malibu dream. The slightly pricey, Mediterranean/Italian beauty of a restaurant left a lasting impression on us. The view, for starters, is magnificent. So was our server, Daniel. The rooftop
patio is a stunning venue for cocktails. Enjoy the nice fleece blankets while you sip a Craft Cocktail ($15). The Nikita Bay Breeze is refreshing and includes toasted coconut infused Cana Brava Rum, fresh pineapple, Vietnamese cinnamon agave, fresh lime, cranberry
tincture, and lime zest. For a unique cocktail, we like the Left Break at Zeros. Ford's gin, pear and rosemary puree, and fresh lemon juice are topped with champagne and cinnamon dust. Try some of the delicious hot bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
Starters include Carpaccio ($20), thin slices of beef with grana padano cheese, Seafood Salad ($18) shrimp, lobster, seared scallops, broccoli, fava beans, and salmoriglio vinaigrette. The "Nikita cannolo" ($22) is a tasy crispy sea bass served with lemon,
celery, and canteloupe. Try them all, they are that good! Pastas are nothing short of perfection. We love the Fagotelli carbonara. ($18) Ravioli del plin, and crisp panchetta are served in a very light cream sauce. Eat this with a spoon so you can scoop up
all of the sauce! Spaghetti and Clams (or shrimp- $20), are what my husband claims is the best he's ever tasted. Bits of broccolini are added for color and flavor, and just the right amount of garlic. I actually like this dish better than the Fagotelli.
For dinner try the Waygu Beef Filet ($48) with some hand cut pommes frites. Dessert lovers will be in heaven with the Tiramisu ($9). Mocha ice cream with crunchy chocolate is served over light, creamy tiramisu. It gets an A+ in my book. The Seven Layer Chocolate
Bar, a Nikita signature dessert, ($9) boasts hazelnut mousse and crunchy almonds. Lavazza Italian coffee is pretty great too! I love the individual pots. Service is excellent and staff is super friendly. Look for the construction of a Japanese-style
hotel on the site of Nikita and Nobu. This will be the new "brainchild" of Nobu Matsuhisa and Larry Ellison. Nikita 22716 Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu. (310) 456-3274
