Brunch at the Lazy Daisy is meant for a Lazy afternoon. And I do mean lazy. Service is so slow that it will take at least two hours to eat. I think the economy with servers thing needs to be over, because actually, the food's pretty good. The patio is charming. It's like eating outside in someone's garden. Last Sunday we enjoyed brunch (forever). We had pancakes, scrambled eggs and sausage. We also enjoyed waffles with strawberries, eggs and bacon. My friend Sherrell and I are always on the lookout to add to our favorite breakfast spots. A couple of weeks ago she turned me on to Ronnie's Diner in Culver City. Suffice it to say that I loved this place, and so will you! Good food, even better prices, and attentive service have made Ronnie's (a Culver City favorite for years), a new favorite of mine. The Greek Omelette ($7.35) is to die for! With eggplant, spinach, onion, and feta, you'll be instantly transportanted to the isles of Greece. With a choice of toast or tortilla, homestyle potatoes, grits, brown or Spanish rice, pinto or black beans; this is the perfect way to start your day. The Bacon & Avocado Omelette ($8.50) with red onion and cheddar is also devine. With the crispy homestyle potatoes and rye toast, it won me over after the first bite! Pancakes, French Toast,and even a Protein Plate are also available. Here's the best part: you can order breakfast until 2:30 p.m. every day! If you've never been to Rae's Restaurant, then you've never truly experienced a greasy spoon diner. And I mean that in a good way. Each weekend tons of westsiders line up for great eggs, waffles, pancakes, bacon, sausage, and biscuits on Pico in Santa Monica. For decades, Rae's has attracted both young and old alike waiting to devour The Club Breakfast ($6.50) two eggs anyway you like 'em, sausage, bacon, or ham, biscuits with country gravy, and crispy potatoes. You'll get to know your neighbors quickly in these cramped quarters, but that's okay, everyone is friendly! Rae's Restaurant 2901 Pico Blvd. Santa Monica (310) 828-7937. If you ever find yourself walking down Rose Avenue on a lazy afternoon be sure to stop in at Venice Flake. This cheerful neighborhood cafe boasts amazing breakfast sandwiches. The menu is simple yet delicious. I had the Super Cro-Jo Sandwich ($7.50) with scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, smoked Gouda cheese, arugula, tomato, and secret sauce on a toasted flaky croissant. The sandwich was fabulous. We will be going back soon for breakfast to try out the other yummy items on the menu. Flake Venice 513 Rose Avenue, Venice. (310) 396-2333. If you are looking for a terrific brunch spot with a full service bar just steps from the Venice boardwalk, the Terrace Cafe is the perfect place! Overlooking the ocean, the brunch menu is perfect for a lazy Sunday morning. We love to walk here and enjoy the Eggs "Bennie." ($11). Prepared the traditional way with hollandaise and served with hash browns, this is a super Sunday treat. We also love the Create Your Own Omelet ($12). Choose 3 ingredients from ham, sausage, onions, mushrooms, peppers, cheddar cheese, swiss cheese, avocado, tomatoes, or bacon. Served with hash browns and toast; this is my personal favorite.
