The motto at More Than Waffles should be, "good things come to those who wait." So be prepared...to wait about 45 minutes for a table at this Encino breakfast hot spot. Located in the back
of a mall on Ventura Boulevard, this eatery has big neighbors such as Michael's and Yamato. It's downstairs, in case you get lost. Live entertainment is provided while you wait, by the awesome J. Michael Henderson and his Australian Shepherd. (The dog just
lays there, but is very friendly and sweet). When you finally get your table, service will be quick and efficient. Try an authentic Belgian Waffle ($5.95) in plain, sugar, or cinnamon. These true "Gaufre" waffles are thick, but light and airy. Enjoy the melted
butter and maple syrup on top. The Strawberries and Whipped Cream Waffle ($9.25) is an Encino favorite, and can be seen on every other table. For a decadent treat, the Love ($11.25), is a waffle dipped in Belgian dark chocolate with strawberries, ice cream,
and whipped cream. With about 20 different varieties of waffles to choose from, there is sure to be one just right for you. Omelettes number past 20 and are all made with three farm fresh eggs and served with a waffle. We love the Ham, Bacon, or Sausage with
Cheddar. ($11.25) and the Belgian ($11.75) bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms, and cheddar. For something different try the El Greco ($11.45). Three eggs are scrambled with scallions, parsley, and lots of feta cheese. If crepes are your thing the Ham and Cheese ($11.45)
scrambled eggs and cheddar crepe will hit the spot. Pancakes come with three large fluffy cakes in an order. Chocolate Chip ($9.95) is our favorite. Classic French Toast ($8.75) is a large order and goes perfectly with a side of thick bacon. ($4.50). Several
types of Benedicts ($11.25) show up on this menu, but our first choice is the standard with two poached eggs on an English muffin with ham, Hollandaise, and home fries. We keep coming back to try all of the different menu options. Lunch is available too,
